Gwyneth Paltrow, star of 'Iron Man 2', brought the dangers of Vitamin D deficiency to the forefront as she discussed her personal experience with osteopenia, a condition characterized by low bone mineral density. She first became aware of the problem when she suffered a severe fracture a few years ago. A bone scan led to the discovery that she had the lowest levels of Vitamin D her doctors had ever seen. They recommended prescription-strength Vitamin D and UVB via sun exposure, and she has since reversed the condition.
